Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has teamed up with Subway for a new advertising campaign, just weeks after his managers expressed concerns about him becoming oversaturated in the media.
In the commercial, Kelce and his quarterback Patrick Mahomes promote Subway’s new footlong cookie, with Mahomes declaring it his “favorite sidekick ever.” Kelce, playfully hurt by being replaced with a snack, then reveals his own favorite Subway treat: the sweet footlong Choco.
The commercial is a lighthearted take on the close friendship between Kelce and Mahomes, who have become one of the most successful duos in NFL history. They recently surpassed Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski’s career record for most postseason touchdowns together.
This latest deal with Subway is just one of many Kelce has signed in recent years. He also has endorsement deals with Experian, Pfizer, and State Farm.
However, Kelce’s managers, Andre and Aaron E of AA Management, recently told the New York Times that they are concerned about him becoming oversaturated in the media. They said they are now focusing on quality over quantity and authenticity first in his endorsement deals.
Kelce has been on an incredible rise to fame since winning his second Super Bowl in five years last year. He has hosted Saturday Night Live and is now dating pop star Taylor Swift.
In addition to his on-field success, Kelce is also a savvy businessman. He is reportedly looking to trademark his Instagram handle “killer Trav,” his signature catchphrase “Alright now,” and “Kelsey’s Crunch.”
